Welcome to PokéDriven ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy covers both of our websites:

  • pokedriven.com — a data-driven Pokémon statistics and analytics site
  • pokedriven.games — an interactive Pokémon games site featuring daily puzzles, leaderboards, and user accounts

Together, these are referred to as "the Sites." Because the two sites have different features and collect different types of data, we note throughout this policy where a particular practice applies to one site only.

By using either Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This policy is intended to comply with major global privacy regulations, including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable laws.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you create an account or use interactive features, we may collect:

  • Email address (used for account registration via Firebase Authentication)
  • Display name or username (if provided)
  • Game results, puzzle completions, and scores (stored in Firestore to power leaderboards and personal game history)

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit either Site, certain information is collected automatically by us or our third-party partners:

  • IP address and approximate geographic location
  • Browser type, version, and operating system
  • Pages visited, time spent, and referral URLs
  • Cookie identifiers and device identifiers
  • Advertising interactions (via Google AdSense)

2.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies. These include:

  • Essential cookies: Required for core site functionality, such as keeping you logged in. (pokedriven.games only)
  • Analytics cookies: Used to understand how visitors interact with the Sites.
  • Advertising cookies: Placed by Google AdSense to serve personalised or contextual advertisements. These may track your browsing behaviour across websites.

  • Send transactional and reminder emails, such as daily game reminders (pokedriven.games only, registered users only)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your data is:

  • Consent: For advertising cookies, reminder emails, and any optional data collection.
  • Contract: To provide the services you sign up for, including account creation and game features (pokedriven.games only).
  • Legitimate Interests: For analytics and improving the Sites, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on both sites. Google may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to these sites and other sites. 5.2 Firebase Authentication & Firestore (Google)

We use Firebase Authentication (for sign-in) and Cloud Firestore (for storing game data and leaderboards) on pokedriven.games, both operated by Google. These services may process your data on Google's infrastructure. See Firebase's Privacy and Security information for details.

ℹ️ Applies to pokedriven.games only. pokedriven.com does not use Firebase Authentication or Firestore.

5.3 Resend (Email Delivery)

We use Resend to send transactional and reminder emails to registered users, such as daily game reminders. Resend processes your email address on our behalf solely for the purpose of delivering these emails. Resend does not use your data for its own marketing purposes.

5.4 Pokémon Data

Both sites use publicly available Pokémon data sourced from PokéAPI and other open data sources. This data does not include any personal information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

  • Account data (email, display name): Retained until you delete your account. (pokedriven.games only)
  • Email reminder preferences and send history: Retained while your account is active. (pokedriven.games only)
  • Game results and leaderboard data: Retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. (pokedriven.games only)
  • Cookie and advertising data: Managed by Google per their data retention policies. (both sites)

You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Section 8).

7. International Data Transfers

Our Sites are accessible globally. If you access either Site from outside the country where our servers or third-party processors are located, your data may be transferred internationally. Google (Firebase, AdSense) operates globally and complies with applicable data transfer frameworks, including Standard Contractual Clauses for EEA users.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

8.1 All Users

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Correction: Request that inaccurate data be corrected.
  • Opt-Out of Emails: Unsubscribe from reminder emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly.
  • Opt-Out of Ads: Opt out of personalised advertising via Google's Ad Settings.

8.2 EEA / UK Users (GDPR)

  • Portability: Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Restrict Processing: Request that we limit how we use your data.
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for cookie-based processing at any time.
  • Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8.3 California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us using the details in Section 12.

9. Children's Privacy

The Sites are not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Firebase Authentication uses industry-standard security practices, including encrypted storage of credentials. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of either Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
